Intern Professional Oklahoma City, OK, US

3 days ago Requisition

FSB, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is offering a hands-on Summer Internship for Structural Engineering students who want to see how the calculations, concepts, and materials they study in class become real buildings. As an intern, you’ll work alongside licensed structural engineers and experienced designers while gaining exposure to the structural systems that support complex facilities from the foundation up.

You’ll contribute to projects across a variety of markets and building types while learning how structural engineers solve technical challenges and create safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.

This is more than a summer of shadowing. You’ll contribute to active projects, strengthen your technical skills, make professional connections, and experience what working as a structural engineer within a multidisciplinary A/E firm is really like.

Technical Learning
  • Assist with structural design, analysis, modeling, and documentation using Revit and structural analysis tools
  • Support analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation systems
  • Perform basic structural calculations and assist with sizing beams, columns, foundations, and other structural components
  • Support development of structural plans, details, sections, calculations, and construction documents
  • Learn how building codes, loading requirements, structural standards, and design criteria are applied to real world projects
  • Gain exposure to constructability and the structural design process from concept through construction
  • Work alongside licensed structural engineers and experienced designers on active projects
  • Participate in coordination with architecture, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection teams
  • Learn how structural design decisions interact with architectural concepts and other building systems through BIM and project coordination
  • Gain exposure to project meetings, client communication, and the day-to-day processes behind successful project delivery
The FSB Internship Experience

Our internship program is intentionally designed to help you make the transition from student to emerging professional. Along with your project work, you’ll have a summer full of opportunities to learn, connect, explore your career interests, and become part of FSB.

During the summer, you’ll:

  • Kick off your experience with FSB 101 and an introduction to our firm, culture, people, projects, and career opportunities
  • Connect with an FSB team member as a resource for questions, navigating the firm, and making connections throughout the summer
  • Participate in professional development programming, including leadership and project focused panels, Lunch & Learns, and other learning opportunities
  • Meet leaders and professionals from across FSB and learn about different career paths within the A/E industry
  • Build relationships with fellow interns and employees through networking, community service, and intern events
  • Develop your communication and presentation skills and wrap up the summer by sharing your experience and contributions through a final intern presentation
Required Qualifications
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architectural engineering, or a related engineering program with an emphasis in structures from an ABET accredited program
  • Able to work on site in Oklahoma City for the duration of the summer internship, approximately 40 hours per week
  • Basic familiarity with Revit or structural analysis and design software preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, problem solving, and collaboration skills
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to ask questions, take on new challenges, and learn from experienced professionals
