Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are seeking a Test Engineering Manager to lead the end-of-line (EOL) test systems and engineering group. This individual will manage a technical team of engineers and technicians, oversee a fleet of automated test fixtures and dynamo meters, and partner cross-functionally with plant leadership to maximize testing capability, uptime, and quality compliance.
This role combines hands-on technical problem-solving with organizational leadership, capacity planning, and long-term test standardization.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership & Development: Directly supervise, mentor, and allocate work for a team of test engineers and technicians. Manage hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and technical skill development.
- Test Systems & Asset Reliability: Maintain and optimize automated end-of-line (EOL) test stands, dynamo meters, data acquisition (DAQ) hardware, and mechanical/hydraulic test equipment to ensure high availability and measurement accuracy.
- Test Standards & Protocol Development: Define and implement robust test procedures, communication protocols, and quality verification standards across production lines.
- Operations & Continuous Improvement: Partner with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to improve test cycle times, reduce false rejects, and enhance overall line throughput.
- Root Cause & Failure Analysis: Lead structured technical investigations into test abnormalities, equipment faults, and product failure modes.
- New Program Feasibility & Launch: Provide test engineering assessments, equipment requirements, and cycle-time estimates to support quoting and new product launch activities.
- Quality Management: Maintain adherence to quality system standards (e.g., ISO 9001 / IATF 16949), equipment calibration schedules, and safety protocols within the testing area.
Required:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience), combined with 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing or product-testing environment.
- Leadership: 2+ years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience managing engineers, technicians, or technical specialists.
- Technical Breadth: Strong background in automated test systems, end-of-line (EOL) functional verification, sensors/instrumentation, or hydraulic/mechanical test fixtures.
- Operational Literacy: Ability to evaluate equipment capacity, manage departmental operating needs, and interpret basic operational/financial metrics.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to apply structured root-cause methodologies to resolve complex electromechanical issues.
- Familiarity with National Instruments tools (LabVIEW, Test Stand) or PLC-based industrial controls.
- Experience testing rotating machinery, fluid power systems, electro-mechanical assemblies, or power transmission hardware.
- Practical understanding of quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, Gage R&R (MSA), and SPC.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
- Paid time off (PTO) and paid company holidays.
