A leading, highly complex manufacturing operation outside of Oklahoma City is seeking a seasoned Plant Controller to serve as the senior financial leader at the plant level. This individual will act as the key business partner to the Plant General Manager and operational leadership team, providing financial oversight, operational analysis, and strong internal control governance.
This role reports into Corporate (Director, Plant & Cost Accounting) and plays a critical role in driving plant performance, supporting capital investment decisions, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities Business Partnership & Financial Leadership- Serve as the primary financial advisor to plant leadership, providing data-driven insights to improve operational decision-making
- Lead monthly cost review meetings and analyze actuals vs. budget and prior periods
- Drive annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes
- Provide variance analysis and operational performance commentary to Corporate
- Lead and supervise month-end and year-end close activities
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, inventory costing, and account analyses
- Ensure accurate fixed asset accounting including capitalizations, retirements, and project tracking
- Oversee inventory accounting and reconciliation through production reporting systems
- Manage accounting for capital projects, maintenance spend, and plant turnarounds
- Partner with Engineering and Maintenance to ensure proper classification and accrual processes
- Monitor and report on local capital and maintenance spending
- Establish and maintain strong internal control processes
- Lead internal and external audit support efforts
- Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and GAAP
- Coordinate with Corporate Tax on required filings and analyses
- Supervise and develop accounting and clerical staff
- Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and process improvement
- Provide leadership within a matrix corporate structure
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 10+ years of progressive manufacturing accounting experience
- Strong supervisory experience in a complex plant environment
- Experience with high-volume capital projects and multi-product operations
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- Prior public accounting experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- ERP experience required (SAP preferred)
- Hands-on plant finance leader who thrives in operational environments
- Strong cost accounting and inventory expertise
- Comfortable working independently while partnering closely with operations
- Process-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
- High integrity and strong executive communication skills
