Summary Of Position
The Portfolio Manager II works under the direction of the Commercial Lender and is responsible for managing and optimizing larger more complex portfolios to ensure financial growth and risk management. They have the ability and authority to make independent decisions. They will be responsible for leadership and development of junior staff, reporting to senior management, and development of high-value client relationships.
They may lead teams and projects as directed. Works in close partnership to support the overall relationship strategy, assist with client planning, and provide advanced credit insight for complex borrowers. Identifies opportunities, addresses client needs, and enhances the relationship.
- Manages the accurate, timely boarding of loans.
- Track and evaluate performance of the assigned loan / credit portfolio, including trends, delinquencies, concentrations, and risk metrics
- Serve as a point of contact for client / customer inquiries and issues in your portfolio
- Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging regulatory changes, and ensure the bank’s processes comply
- Engage with clients directly on financial questions, loan documentation, and portfolio issues
- Gather financial and business information, perform financial statement / cash flow / collateral analysis for credit decisions
- Oversee loan administration: closing, documentation, borrower monitoring, collateral inspections, collections, workouts
- Maintain working knowledge of commercial banking / loan products, documentation requirements, structuring, regulatory rules
- Ensure loan files are complete, with proper signatures, legal descriptions, dated documents and other relevant data
- Ability to make independent, critical, client-based decisions with large lending relationships.
- Lead or oversee the credit approval process
- Lead strategic initiatives and projects as directed
- Mentor, train, and/or supervise junior staff
- Assist in identifying portfolio-based opportunities for cross-selling, deposit growth and risk mitigation
- Participate in client meetings to help present analysis, answer credit questions, and strengthen the overall relationship
- Other tasks as assigned by the manager
- Detail oriented, strategic thinker
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced, diverse, and growth-oriented environment
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, cash flow modeling, collateral, credit risk
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage with high profile clients and build business relationships
- Advanced knowledge of banking industry including: lending, banking and credit.
- Able to lead junior staff including mentoring, training and/or supervising.
- Must have professional presentation skills, able to work with senior management, prepare reports, and lead meetings, etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively to support full-relationship banking
- Demonstrated ability to support strategic client discussions and provide high-level portfolio insights
- Good listening skills in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's degree (Finance, Accounting, Business) preferred
- 10+ years of commercial banking/lending/credit experience, with significant exposure to large/complex credits
