A growing public company is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations and support accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable processes. This role partners closely with leadership and plays a key role in financial oversight, planning, and team development. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, leadership experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
CoreResponsibilities
- Oversee preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies
- Establish and maintain accounting procedures, policies, and controls
- Support the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses
- Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Manage cash flow forecasting and support longer-term financial planning initiatives
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for internal and external audits
- Ensure appropriate documentation, controls, and audit readiness
- Oversee tax compliance activities and support tax preparation processes
- Maintain adherence to company policies and applicable accounting standards
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, automation, and scalability
- Support the design and implementation of internal control frameworks
- Ensure consistent documentation and adherence to financial procedures
- Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team
- Collaborate with operations and other departments to support accurate reporting
- Act as a key resource for accounting and financial guidance across the organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- CPA required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including people leadership
- Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, and technical accounting concepts
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems;
Net Suite experience is a plus - Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with high attention to detail
- Experience with in oil and gas field services
- Prior exposure to audit and tax processes, ideally with experience from a large or top-tier CPA firm
- Familiarity with ERP systems, process automation, and system enhancements
