Field Service Technician Intermediate, AMS

Summary

The Field Service Technician, AMS is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing natural gas compression equipment. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality. The position works closely with external customers and internal team members to ensure that all equipment functions efficiently and safely.

• Coordinated and performed job activities in accordance with Kodiak procedures, goals, and objectives.
• Troubleshoot complex repairs and conduct major equipment overhauls.
• Build and maintain customer relationships.
• Diagnose all levels of compressor system failures and optimize compression equipment performance.
• Complete proper reports and actions required by operating procedures and policies.
• Analyze job parts and supply inventory to effectively communicate with Supply Chain, ensuring sufficient parts for optimal job performance.
• Prioritize repair work when demand competes.
• Assess repair/replacement needs and identify the best solution.
• Perform consistent inspections and maintenance of units to proactively maintain unit health.

High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or related field preferred.

3+ years of compressor maintenance or related industry experience required. Experience with Caterpillar G3600/G3500 Natural Gas Engine preferred.

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Requires operation of heavy equipment.
• Must stand for up to 75% of the time.
• Must climb ladders or stairs.
• Intermittently lift >50 lbs from the ground.
• Must work in high‑noise environments (>85 dBA) with ear protection.
• Must tolerate exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Must work outdoors under extreme heat and cold.
• Must be willing to work overtime, extended, or non‑traditional hours.
• Must maneuver self in confined spaces (stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl).
• Must wear mandatory PPE, including fire‑retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots.
• Must frequently use computer and office equipment.
