Responsibilities- Maintain laboratory equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Clean, wash, sterilize, and distribute glassware and other equipment.
- Keep laboratory and common areas clean, organized, and safe, including daily and end‑of‑semester cleaning.
- Perform daily inspections of specimens and manage dissection and maintenance tasks.
- Collect, sort, and deliver laundry.
- Prepare, set up, and tear down stations, equipment, models, specimens, course materials, consumables, and ensure laboratory cleanliness.
- Inventory supplies, place orders, verify receipt, label, sort, and store supplies.
- Develop and schedule laboratory review sessions for staff.
- Assist in preparing teaching or research materials.
- Monitor students in open lab sessions.
- Answer phones, run errands, maintain daily logs and equipment records.
- Maintain a safe working environment, appropriately collect and dispose of biological specimens.
- Report hazards to management, department head, or lead instructor.
- Complete all mandatory training.
- Record and maintain work performed in laboratories, including activities performed on cadavers.
- Prepare for experiments and process biological samples as required.
- Perform various duties as needed to fulfill the position’s functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Health Sciences, or related discipline.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of laboratory practices and willingness to review anatomy materials.
- Ability to record and maintain reports and logs.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sterilization best practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely operate dissection instruments, including sharp objects and power tools.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty and students.
- Ability to handle and clean laboratory equipment and glassware.
- Physical:
- Standing for prolonged periods.
- Manual dexterity.
- Reaching, bending, stooping, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Pushing and pulling.
- Environmental:
- Research laboratory environment.
- Exposure to chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous materials, and equipment noise.
- May use acid or autoclave equipment.
