Position SummaryThe Hospice Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall clinical leadership of our hospice program. This role ensures that we deliver high-quality care, mentor and support our nursing team, and grow our census while exceeding patient and family expectations. The DON is hands‑on, collaborative, and actively engaged in the community to educate referral sources about the hospice benefit.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide clinical leadership and oversight for the hospice team, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Mentor and coach hospice nurses, celebrate wins, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Actively participate in census growth efforts by partnering with the marketing team on referral source visits and educational presentations.
Monitor clinical quality indicators and ensure care is patient‑centered, timely, and consistent with hospice best practices.
Step into the field as needed to support clinicians, assist with patient visits, and model excellent care delivery.
Collaborate with the IDG (interdisciplinary group) to ensure effective care planning and communication.
Drive team engagement and accountability, promoting a positive, supportive work environment.
Ensure timely, accurate documentation and regulatory compliance for all patient care.
Build strong relationships with community partners and referral sources to enhance program reputation and growth.
Current RN license in the state of Oklahoma.
Minimum 3–5 years of hospice experience; prior leadership/management experience required.
Strong knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation for hospice.
Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
Passion for patient advocacy, quality care, and program growth.
Ability to work collaboratively with marketing, operations, and clinical staff.
