SUMMARY:

Thisevolvingpositionis located inthe

Operations

Divisionwiththe Oklahoma City-County Health Department(OCCHD). The employee will be a member of the OCCHDEmergency Preparedness and Response Team. Employee is responsible forassistingthe

Supervisor in the development and maintenance of allcommunitycontacts specifically involved with public healthresiliency.

The incumbent willassistin the establishment of partnerships, consortia, and linkages between the

OCCHD and communityareaemergency planning and response entities,including various state and federal agencies.

Also, the employee will work with other OCCHD team members on incidents,eventsand information technology aspects of the OCCHD Emergency Preparedness and Response Program. In addition, the employee may conduct assessments and analyses of public health system capacities. The employee is responsible forthe development and maintenance of volunteer contacts for programs involved with bioterrorism incidents or other public health threats or emergencies. The incumbent will work toestablishacadre of volunteers through the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps (OKMRC) to respond to any possible actual event, take part in training and preparedness exercises, and promote public health through community events.

Also, the incumbent will work with the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program Trainer in providing training for the volunteers.

The employee will work with health-care providers, physicians, various public and private sector representatives, business and civic leaders, legislators, executives, and city, county, and state officials to strengthen existing partnerships and develop new onestofacilitateincreased communication and effective response to disasters or bioterrorism events in Oklahoma County. The incumbent is responsible for working with various organizations inidentifyingvolunteers,actively recruiting volunteers from within the community,andmaintaininga databaseonvolunteers.

Incumbent will serve as the OK County MRC Coordinator. The incumbent will serve on the OKMRC Administrative Team.

During events, exercises or responses incumbent may serve in several roles including coordinate and supervise volunteers deployed by OCCHD or Resource Unit Leader.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Developing and maintaining contacts between OCCHD and community and faith-based partners.
  • Assisting the Strategic Planning Coordinator with conducting assessments and analyses of public health system capacities relating to jurisdictional risk.
  • Interacting with individuals and groups in developing resources and creating informational materials.
  • Collecting data.
  • Generating documents and reports.
  • Communicating with a broad spectrum of health professionals, partners, and public and private groups and agencies within the community.
  • Making presentations to a wide variety of groups.
  • Driving to various locations to perform job duties as needed.
  • Completing training in support of duties and responsibilities of this position including IC courses.
  • Maintaining and utilizing OKMRC volunteer registry of who will respond to incidents, events and participate in training and exercises.
  • Working with various organizations in identifying volunteers and actively recruiting volunteers from within the community.
  • Working with various community agencies and public and private organizations to maintain and grow a local MRC unit, and serving as the OKMRC Representative for OK County.
