Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Special Services and Site Leader(s), the Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. The role requires close collaboration with the staff and administration of the school district to meet individual student needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students
- Provide therapy, follow‑up, and/or consultation based on student IEPs
- Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services
- Provide research‑based, specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP
- Assess student progress and determine the need for additional IEP reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
- Schedule special education meetings and work cooperatively with child study team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies
- Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student’s IEP
- Serve as the primary contact for the parent, general education teachers, and other service providers regarding speech services
- Comply with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations
- Complete all district and state reporting requirements
- Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature, as assigned
- Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process
- Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports
- Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
- Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining, etc.)
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
- Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance
- Attend staff and team meetings
- Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
- Have the willingness to assume responsibilities appropriate for the position
- Support the mission statement of the district
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Master's degree from an accredited college/university
- Current Oklahoma State Teaching Certificate
- Current Oklahoma Speech Pathologist License
- Salary based on OKCPS salary schedule plus 5% based on 190‑day contract
- Insurance – health, dental, and vision paid for contract employee
- 401K – 7% based on total compensation starting after 6 months of employment
- 10 days PTO
