Faculty Position in Department of Biochemistry and Physiology
OUHC is seeking a full-time Professor tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology in the area of lipid metabolism with special emphasis on sphingolipid metabolic abnormalities in disease pathogenesis. The faculty member will join a growing group of investigators with the interest in lipid and sphingolipid metabolism. Current areas of strength include metabolic reprogramming in diabetes, obesity, diabetic complications and aging and geroscience in the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology, College of Medicine, University of Oklahoma Health Campus.
The Department of Biochemistry and Physiology is one of five basic science departments within the College of Medicine at OUHC, providing a highly interactive cohort of scientists with interests in the role of metabolic reprogramming in diabetes, obesity, diabetic complications and aging and geroscience.
This position provides a unique opportunity to interact and collaborate with leading scientists in the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, the Nathan Shock Center on Aging, the Dean McGee Eye Institute, and the Stephenson Cancer Center on the OUHC campus and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and Oklahoma City VA Medical Center located next to the OUHC campus. Faculty members in Department of Biochemistry and Physiology have the opportunity to mentor competitive graduate students through a variety of doctoral programs offered on the OUHC campus.
OUHC is a comprehensive health center that includes Colleges of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, Medicine, and the Graduate College. It is home to two hospitals and an NCI-designated Cancer Center. OUHC Core Facilities include the state-of-the-art Laboratory for Molecular Biology and Cytometry Research, which provides services specializing in genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, cytometry, and imaging. The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is adjacent to OUHC and maintains a collaborative partnership with OUHC.
Scientists at OMRF are also a source of collaborators for studies in this field. OMRF core facilities are available to OUHC investigators.
