Job Description:

Under general supervision, performs professional work in all phases of a comprehensive staff development and training program for behavioral health. Essential

Responsibilities
  • Aligns behaviors with OU Health values and maintains professional practice standards.

  • Responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting Behavioral Health staff development and in service within the hospital and community settings.

  • Develops criteria to evaluate needs of the staff and measure the effectiveness of training programs.

  • Coordinates and facilitates competency development, verification and maintenance activities.

  • Responsible for coordinating behavioral health orientation program.

  • Coordinates and facilitates quality improvement activities and assessing the implementation of age and culturally appropriate care programs.

  • Plans, implements and evaluates preceptor program.

  • Coordinates CPR training that meets the American Heart association requirements and is in compliance with TJC standards.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, social workers, child life, therapists) to integrate behavioral health education into overall care.

  • Act as a resource for staff on behavioral health strategies, de-escalation, and trauma-informed communication.

  • Participate in hospital-wide initiatives to improve behavioral health literacy and access to resources.

  • Develop culturally responsive educational tools (print, digital, multimedia) for internal and external audiences.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of behavioral health research, evidence-based interventions, and national guidelines to ensure accuracy of all materials.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of education programs through feedback, outcomes tracking, and data analysis.

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify gaps in behavioral health education and recommend program enhancements.

  • Support accreditation, compliance, and reporting requirements by documenting educational activities and outcomes.

  • Demonstrate ethical practice, cultural humility, and respect for patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Aligns with systems education and collaborates with system educators.

General Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Education Requirements
  • Master's degree from accredited institution in social work, counseling, psychology or other relevant mental health discipline.

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of3 years' experience in direct behavioral health care.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience providing education or providing educational groups.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements
  • Independent licensure such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) from Oklahoma state board. Must be able to provide clinical supervision per Oklahoma licensing board requirements.

  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification.

  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention - Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) upon hire.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements
  • Knowledge of professional behavioral health theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.

  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate behavioral health services.

  • Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.

  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.

  • Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.

  • Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient's best interest.

  • Ability to engage and manage conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.

  • Ability to maintain compliance accreditation with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
