What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
  • Conduct audits and report on documentation, coding, and billing practices across the employer's entities
  • Develop and deliver training programs to address audit deficiencies
  • Validate coding systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Create and monitor inpatient case mix reports to identify trends in assigned DRGs/APCs
  • Review and classify medical information into appropriate coding groups for diagnoses and procedures
What is Required (Qualifications)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • AHIMA Credentials:
    Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • AAPC Credentials:
    Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospital or physician coding and/or auditing
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Associate's Degree
  • 3 years of experience with claims processing and data management
  • Strong background in auditing and education/training in coding and reimbursement
