Responsibilities
Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and maintaining detailed data on trauma patients to support clinical care, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. This role involves reviewing medical records, abstracting key clinical information, and entering it into a trauma registry database using standardized coding systems such as ICD‑10 and AIS. The registrar collaborates with trauma program staff and healthcare providers to ensure data accuracy and completeness, generates reports for internal and external stakeholders, and helps identify trends to improve trauma care outcomes.
Strong attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and familiarity with trauma registry software are essential, and certification as a Trauma Registrar (CSTR) is often preferred or required.
Education:
Graduate of Health Information Management baccalaureate OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in a health‑related field. This includes experience in coding, abstracting data, or emergency room activities for the required education/certification.
Licensure/Certification s/Registrations
Required:
Must have previously attended, or attend within 12 months of hire, the following courses:
The American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program, The Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course, and ICD‑10 Coding Course that must be refreshed every 5 years.
Experience Level: Intermediate Level.

Pay And Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
