Position SummaryThe Housekeeping Supervisor leads the daily work of the housekeeping team to ensure guest rooms and assigned public areas are clean, well maintained, and ready on time. This hands-on leader assigns and inspects work, coaches associates, coordinates room status with the Front Desk and Maintenance teams, and responds promptly to guest needs. The position helps maintain The Ellison's service standards and Marriott brand expectations while creating a positive, accountable work environment.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Prepare daily room assignments and coordinate priorities based on arrivals, departures, stayover service, special requests, and staffing levels.
- Lead the start-of-shift briefing, communicate service priorities, and monitor progress throughout the day. Adjust assignments and assist with room cleaning when needed to meet arrival times and quality standards.
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, service areas, and assigned public spaces for cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance needs. Document findings, arrange corrections, and verify that rooms are ready before release to the Front Desk.
- Keep room status accurate in the hotel's systems and communicate ready rooms, delays, discrepancies, and out-of-order concerns promptly to the Front Desk and management.
- Train new associates and provide ongoing coaching on cleaning procedures, productivity, safety, guest privacy, service standards, and proper use of equipment and chemicals.
- Provide timely, respectful feedback to associates; recognize strong performance and report attendance, conduct, or performance concerns to the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant General Manager.
- Respond to guest requests and service concerns with care and urgency. Follow through with the appropriate department and elevate unresolved issues.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to report deficiencies, track repairs, and confirm rooms are properly cleaned and inspected after work is completed.
- Monitor the condition and use of linens, amenities, guest supplies, equipment, and cleaning products. Help maintain organized closets and carts, identify shortages, and reduce waste.
- Follow and reinforce procedures for keys, lost and found, occupied rooms, guest belongings, workplace safety, and chemical handling, including applicable safety data sheet guidance.
