Position Overview
Senior Software Systems Engineer – Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) – B-52H Software Systems team, Oklahoma City, OK. 100% onsite. Provides overall leadership for software system design, development, analysis, and support for the historic B-52H bomber aircraft, ensuring safe, qualified, mission‑capable software for the United States Air Force.
Responsibilities- Oversee the design, development, analysis, and maintenance of software systems meeting industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security, and certification standards.
- Partner with stakeholders to define systems and translate system‑level requirements into traceable software requirements, models, design, code, and test artifacts.
- Conduct software system‑level analyses to identify risk, issues, and opportunities; drive integration and deployment of mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.
- Lead code reviews to ensure alignment with requirements and standards.
- Monitor and review test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution.
- Develop user documentation and training to educate end users.
- Review product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards, consulting on internal team and supplier performance.
- Research and oversee implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software development.
- Manage software project activities and supplier management.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (post‑start required).
- 10+ years’ experience creating and documenting software architecture and designs.
- Experience leading engineering teams across multiple functions.
- Experience with data analysis and/or data mining.
- 14+ years related experience (or 18+ years with a Bachelor’s Degree; 22+ years with a Bachelor of Science in an accredited engineering or related field).
- Lockheed or defense contracting experience.
- Experience developing and presenting Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews.
- Experience with Interface Design / Interface Control documents.
- Proficiency in Ada, JavaScript, C++, C#, Python, SQL, or equivalent.
- Bomber experience (B‑1, B‑2, B‑52) and/or B‑52 military operations.
- Experience with Link‑16 and weapons data link networks, including architecture and messages.
- Knowledge of weapons, POD, radio communications, navigation, and radar operations.
Must comply with Pilot Conflict of Interest assessment. Must be U.S. Citizen, as required for a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. This position does not sponsor work visas and is not contingent upon program award.
