Network Management Specialist II
Full‑time, 40‑hour work weeks, salary up to $75,000, on‑site in Oklahoma City, OK.
As a Network Management Specialist II with OMES you will enjoy generous leave including 15 days of vacation, 15 days of sick leave and 11 paid holidays annually. Position SummaryA professional who builds, repairs, and coordinates with outside vendors to establish and maintain the infrastructure of all state telecom networks—LANs, WANs, and Wireless Point‑to‑Point technologies.
Responsibilities- Choose and verify cable pathways, conduct site surveys, design, create and implement standards and specifications.
- Oversee progress of cabling projects outsourced to third‑party contractors and maintain all related documentation.
- Carry out installation of cable supports, pulling network cable pathways, testing and troubleshooting copper installations.
- Install and terminate IP devices, phone jacks, distribution frames, and establish/troubleshoot video, audio and IP networks.
- Provide sales team with material and labor estimates.
- Rack and stock network devices in closets; support moves that require new patch runs or replacements.
- Improve installation and troubleshooting procedures; monitor and troubleshoot networks and server infrastructure.
- Handle backup and restoring processes for critical systems; communicate status and alerts to relevant departments; escalated issues to on‑call personnel.
- Use test equipment to test fibers, replace faulty fiber cables, and measure network performance.
- Two years of experience in installation, operation, repair or maintenance of voice or data networks.
- Completion of technical school or vendor training in Computer Operations/Networking Technology, or professional certification such as CCNA, JNCIA or CompTIA Network+.
- Knowledge of networking principles, cabling, wireless principles, UPS, connectivity troubleshooting, NEC, BICSI methodology, P2P wireless circuits and VoIP and firewall rules.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing demands; work under pressure; strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Juniper switches, routing and firewalls is preferred.
- ArcGIS experience is a valued skill.
- Education level level I plus one additional year of qualifying experience for Level II responsibilities.
Ability to bend, crouch, stoop, sit and/or lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more daily; use manual equipment such as dollies and carts; willing to work overtime and travel as needed.
