Resident HPC HW Technician Specialist
Location:
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Onsite)
Role Overview
In this role, you will be supporting a supercomputer system at a customer site in Oklahoma City. Reporting 3-4 days per week, you will work with both the customer and remote teams to maintain system availability and uptime to meet service level agreements. This position involves daily break-fix work, including extensive troubleshooting and hardware component replacement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Linux Supercomputer systems availability for the customer.
- Perform hardware diagnostics and repairs as required.
- Gather data, perform analysis, and escalate problems to higher-level support groups and management.
- Work under the direction of a Project/Technical Manager and with customer representatives.
- Provide technical and operational support and guidance to the customer.
- Contribute to knowledge tools and ensure project learnings are documented and shared.
- Provide advice on solution and integration opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor of Arts/Science or an equivalent degree in computer science or a related area of study. Without a degree, an additional three years of relevant professional experience is required (8+ years total). - Experience:
5+ years of Linux HPC-related experience, with a focus on large-scale HPC system administration and hardware support. - Technical
Skills:
Strong experience with current versions of Linux/Unix operating systems, file systems, networking, and security (such as Redhat/CentOS or its equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of or experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL or SLES).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Interpersonal, customer relations, and problem-management skills, with the ability to remain professional under pressure.
- Ability to clearly document processes and procedures.
- Ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause in a multi-technology environment.
- Demonstrated use of consulting skills including questioning, listening, and influencing.
- Ability to conduct or lead status and technical interchange meetings with clients.
Work Environment
This role requires occasional travel for training and hardware repairs in Denver, CO.
