Network Switch Technician

• Perform system management, configuration administration, and routine maintenance for base communications systems (BTS)
• Maintain end-to-end voice path integrity
• Manage switch configurations
• Perform software functions and translations for trunks, circuits, and configurations requested by on-base systems or users
• Administer data lifecycle management, including reclamation and reassignment of unused telephone lines
• Maintain an accurate master listing of active telephone numbers and associated hardware types
• Document and audit database configurations, circuit paths, and user profiles
• Manage user and device databases for network-connected VoIP telephones
• Plan and execute software/firmware changes, systemic upgrades, and emergency security patches
• Provide maintenance through defined demarcation points, including end instruments and physical/logical Ethernet ports of voice switching equipment for host and remote switches
• Own, troubleshoot, and resolve support requests routed through the REMEDY Trouble Ticket system
• Troubleshoot customer telephone devices and voice delivery systems
• Perform other duties and follow additional instructions requested by the supervisor

• Minimum four (4) years of experience with telecommunications industry services, solutions and trends
• Experience administering and maintaining VoIP/Avaya phone systems
• Current DoD 8140 certification, such as CompTIA Security+
• National Security background investigation required;
  Secret clearance
• Direct experience with host/remote voice switching systems, IP Media systems, IP System Interfaces, and CLAN cards
• Proficiency in provisioning, altering, and auditing telco/VoIP database listings
• Practical familiarity with REMEDY or an equivalent enterprise-level ITSM ticketing framework
• Understanding of VoIP deployment standards, SIP/H.323 signaling, and standard digital/analog trunk circuits
• Knowledge of DoD AF policies and regulations
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills:
  Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and team skills
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team
• Must be able to attain and maintain a valid U.S. Government Secret security clearance

Demonstrates expertise in managing and maintaining VoIP systems, including switch configurations and database administration, while ensuring compliance with DoD policies and security standards. Proficient in troubleshooting voice delivery systems and executing software changes to maintain system integrity.
