Overview

Coreslab Structures (OKLA) Inc., Oklahoma’s premier precast concrete supplier, is excited to announce that we are currently adding QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIANS to our Quality Control team for immediate hire. The QC Tech position offers a unique mix of plant, administrative and reporting responsibilities for a thorough, organized and computer-literate individual who likes being in the middle of the action. This position is for the Sunnylane Plant.

While no experience is required, the ideal candidate will have concrete testing, concrete pouring, concrete finishing, blue‑print reading and/or other general construction experience. Again, these are not required for entry‑level consideration. Individuals possessing current or lapsed ACI and/or PCI certifications will be considered for senior Technician status. All QC Technicians are expected to pursue, achieve and maintain ACI and PCI certifications with the Company’s full financial and educational support.

Duties

And Responsibilities
  • Strip the cylinders for the previous day and place them in the curing tanks
  • After finishing up with the cylinders you would next go set up the testing area and make sure all the testing equipment is functioning properly and is clean
  • Either before the concrete test starts or when waiting between pours, they would break any 28- and 7-day cylinders that we have with the compression machine
  • Run gradation, moisture and stud bend tests
  • During the Concrete test you will be doing a Unit Weight, Air Test, T-20 test, penetrometer, “J” ring, absorption and a Slump or Spread test and making sure it matches the mix design and is within the given tolerance
  • After the concrete tests are completed and verified you will then call the Batch Plant Operator and give them the results of the test and give them the okay to pour the concrete if it passes or tell them to trash it if one of the test results are out of tolerance
  • After testing is completed the equipment and testing area needs to be thoroughly cleaned
  • If there are any wet set plates it is your responsibility to make sure the right plates are installed and in the correct location
  • Check the schedule and make sure we have the correct prints for each day and make sure the prints we have are the latest revision
  • Get the prints in order for the day and prepare the stress sheets for each bed
  • Review the prints for any errors and address them with the engineer and/or project manager
  • Be present to verify production is pulling to the correct pressure and measure the elongation
  • Do a final pre-pour check on the bed to verify all embeds and reinforcement are in the correct location and that the inside of the panels are cleaned out and free of debris
  • Complete a pre-pour deficiency sheet for each product and turn in daily
  • Check the status of the beds that poured the previous day
  • Break the release cylinder for that bed and notify production what is ready to strip out
  • Make sure production detentions strands correctly
  • After the product is stripped out, do a complete post-pour inspection on all the products
  • When complete, put all the strip out information into the computer
  • Enter any NCR’s into CV
  • Review the day before schedule and see if any products require as special finish or addons
  • Check product with standard finishes and green dot complete pieces
  • Check product with addons and blue dot
  • Check product with special finishes and yellow dot
  • Check product with NCR’s and red dot
  • Get the load list for the day and make sure all products shipping are green dotted
  • Get the finishing list and green dot the product that has had the special finish completed
  • Get the addon list and green dot the product that has the addons complete
  • Use the instructions from the NCR list to make out any repairs
  • Green dot NCR pieces when repair is complete
  • Sign all lists and turn them into the supervisor when products are complete
  • Keep good communication with the yard supervisor on what needs to be completed
Skills And Knowledge
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Computer literacy (Windows – Word and Excel)
  • Ability to maintain good attitude under stressful and changing conditions
  • Ability to read and comprehend prints and piece tickets
Qualifications And Experience
  • High School Grad with Tech classes a plus
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes
  • ACI and/or PCI certified or capable of becoming
  • Basic print reading and comprehension
Physical Requirements
  • Able to handle stress
  • Able to work long hours when needed
  • Must be able to climb on ladders, forms, and trailers to check set up and product
Work Environment
  • Office environment and outside production areas
  • Work environment is in hot or cold climate
  • Work requires checking product and production beds while climbing on ladders or on trailers
