Countertop Production Manager

Overview

Star Lumber & Supply is seeking an experienced and driven Counter top Production Manager to lead operations at our high-performance fabrication facility. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, safety, quality, scheduling, maintenance, and team leadership within a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment. Our 40,000 square foot facility stands apart through advanced automation, two dual Table CNC machines, a water jet, miter saw, bridge saw, wet polishing systems for superior finish quality, a recycled water system designed for sustainability, and exceptionally clean, organized work spaces maintained to the highest safety standards.

The Production Manager will play a key role in preserving and enhancing these standards while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

• Operations & Production Management:
  Oversee daily plant operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and on-time delivery goals are met.
• Manage workflow across programming, cutting, fabrication, polishing, finishing, and shipping departments.
• Optimize equipment utilization and labor efficiency.
• Implement and monitor KPIs related to throughput, scrap reduction, rework, and cycle times.
• Lead capacity planning and scheduling in coordination with sales and project management teams.
• Leadership & Team Development:
  Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, leads, and production staff.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and training as needed.
• Support workforce planning, hiring, and onboarding initiatives.
• Quality Control:
  Ensure strict adherence to quality standards for precision cutting, fabrication accuracy, and finish consistency.
• Maintain high standards in wet polishing processes to deliver superior surface finishes.
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
• Safety & Compliance:
  Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
• Enforce rigorous safety protocols and ensure compliance with Star, OSHA and other regulatory standards.
• Lead regular safety meetings, audits, and training programs.
• Promote a proactive safety culture with measurable performance goals.
• Equipment & Maintenance:
  Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for state-of-the-art fabrication equipment, including CNC machinery and automated systems.
• Ensure proper operation of the facility’s wet polishing and recycled water systems.
• Partner with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Identify opportunities to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve process efficiency.
• Implement Lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
• Lead process improvement projects and technology integrations.

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership, preferably in counter top fabrication, stone fabrication, or other custom manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members, customers, and across divisions.
• Proven experience managing CNC-based production operations.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, wet polishing systems, and finishing standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities.
• Experience with safety compliance and OSHA standards.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling software.
• Ability to travel for training and networking.

• Ability to walk the production floor daily.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments, including machinery and material handling.
