What is a material handler?The material handler works in the warehouse coordinating and expediting the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to production schedule. This position also prepares items for shipment and may receive incoming merchandise or material for the preparation of shipment. The material handler will load and unload delivery trucks, pull materials from shelves, and move items from warehouse to production.
They will ensure production areas are fully stocked and have the materials they need to meet production schedules and fulfill orders to move quickly.
- Resolve any material needs, solving material problems and inventory control issues as they arise
- Update computer generated inventories and documents
- Follow inspection procedures
- Adhere to procedures required for stores/materials documents and shipping and receiving documents
- Perform warehouse control, inventory control and related duties
- Communicate with various departments to ensure the proper flow of work and materials
- Load and unload shelves using forklifts and other moving equipment
- Organize and clean warehouse
- Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience
- 2-3 years’ experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory control
- Operating a forklift and pallet jack
- Working knowledge and understanding of computers
- Pass crane training & forklift training

Physical Requirements: - Occasionally exposed to fumes associated with cleaning products dust and warehouse conditions
- Regularly required to talk and hear
- Very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
- Frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds (SEF Energy employees shall not manually lift an item weighing more than 50 lbs., they shall utilize mechanical assistance devices. If mechanical assistance devices are not available, utilize a team lift
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- High school diploma or equivalent
