As a Planning Engineer, you will work at the center of Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management, helping ensure complex aerospace products are successfully launched and produced. This is a highly visible role where your ability to interpret technical requirements and build effective manufacturing plans directly impacts operational and customer success.

Core Responsibilities
  • Study engineering blueprints, drawings, models, and other specifications to determine customer requirements.
  • Review technical and non‑technical documents that relate to contracts, specifications, purchasing, product design, manufacture and test and incorporate the requirements into the manufacturing plans.
  • Coordinate technical questions, technical developments, scheduling, resolving engineering design and test problems, and corrections with company Dir. of Program Management, Engineering Director, Director of Quality, and the customer or vendor engineering or quality representatives.
  • Apply knowledge of functions, and processes of various departments and capacities of machines and equipment to determine the sequence of operations for fabrication or assembly of product.
  • Determine if operations require subcontractor involvement. Specify the specific work scope and requirements for all subcontracted operations including flow down of customer requirements.
  • List operations to be performed on the traveler, indicate machine or equipment to be used, estimate time to set‑up and perform each operation and describe the actions to take place in layman’s terms.
  • Specify type of material to be used, determine the material requirements for part fabrication, considering part size, and method of fabrication conferring with NC Programming to ensure part can be held based off method of manufacture.
  • Prepare, plan, direct and coordinate Risk Management / Risk Mitigation meetings. Required attendees are Quality Assurance / Contract Review / Engineering / and Production personnel.
  • Control expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Post changes to computerized or manual control records, release documents and notifies affected departments.
  • Release travelers and supporting documentation to authorized departments.
  • Confer with manufacturing and quality in developing rework plans for nonconforming product.
  • Support Manufacturing Operations in daily operations, process improvements, organization, inspection requirements, training, and cost reductions by clarifying requirements and improving manufacturing processes and procedures.
