Aluminum Extruder Stretcher
The Aluminum Extruder Stretcher is responsible for performing stretching operations on extruded aluminum materials (tubes and ferrules) to ensure proper straightening and dimensional accuracy. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Perform stretching operations on extruded aluminum tubes and ferrules according to specifications
- Reference die prints to determine proper stretching parameters and critical dimensions
- Stretch material to achieve straightness without overstretching or damaging the product
- Position material properly in stretcher jaws to prevent twisting or deformation
- Carefully transfer the stretched material to the saw tables for subsequent operations
- Organize materials in an orderly fashion for efficient workflow
- Assist with loading dummy blocks into the extrusion press as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Complete daily production records and reports
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies
- Collaborate professionally with team members and supervisors
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
- Ability to stand for extended periods (10-12 hours)
- Capability to lift and maneuver metal strips weighing up to 65 pounds
- Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
- Physical stamina for repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret die prints and technical drawings
- Proficiency with measuring tools, including tape measures and calipers
- Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals
- Understanding of material handling and positioning techniques
- Basic verbal communication skills for receiving instructions and reporting issues
- Basic writing skills for completing production documentation
- Ability to work effectively in a noisy environment with limited verbal communication
- Hydraulic stretcher equipment
- Measuring instruments (tape measures, calipers)
- Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, earplugs, safety shoes)
- Material handling equipment
- Manufacturing floor adjacent to extrusion press and billet oven
- High noise levels require hearing protection
- Non-air-conditioned facility
- Fast-paced production environment
- First Shift: 4:00 PM - 4:00 AM with rotating schedule
- On-the-job training provided for equipment operation and safety procedures
- Assessment of basic math skills (fractions and decimals)
- Evaluation of measuring tool proficiency
- No formal testing required for initial placement
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment at all times
- Adherence to all safety protocols and procedures
- Participation in safety training programs
- Immediate reporting of safety concerns or incidents
