Industrial Painter

Join a fast-paced steel fabrication operation as an Industrial Painter, focusing on high-quality surface preparation, application of primers and finish coats, and safe material handling. You will work with spray equipment, hand and power tools, and overhead material handling devices in a busy industrial environment where safety and quality are top priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and prepare steel surfaces for painting, including grinding, sanding, blasting, masking, and other paint prep activities.
  • Apply primer, epoxy, and finish coats using spray guns and other paint sprayer equipment to meet job specifications and quality standards.
  • Thin paint to proper consistency and select appropriate coatings based on material and specification requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools, such as grinders and wire brushes, to ensure proper surface preparation and coating adhesion.
  • Safely load, unload, move, and rotate materials using crane hooks, chains, and other rigging equipment as needed.
  • Read and follow basic drawings, work orders, and job specifications to complete painting and coating tasks accurately.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including OSHA and workplace safety guidelines, while working in a loud, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly addressing debris, spills, and potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Work overtime as needed to support production demands and project deadlines.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Industrial or steel painting experience.
  • Experience with epoxy or industrial primer coatings.
  • Manufacturing or shop experience beyond painting duties.
  • Crane, rigging, or forklift experience, including exposure to overhead material handling.
  • Experience using cranes or rigging to move and position materials safely.
  • OSHA or workplace safety training and familiarity with industrial safety practices.
  • Experience with sanding, blasting, sandblasting, and other surface preparation techniques.
  • Exposure to industrial paint processes, powder coating, and various coating applications.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and paint equipment with confidence.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished surfaces.
Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled, loud manufacturing facility where industrial equipment and fabrication processes run throughout the shift. You will work on 2nd shift, typically from 4:30 PM to 4:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed to meet production demands. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, involving regular use of spray painting equipment, hand and power tools, and material handling devices such as cranes and rigging.

You should be comfortable wearing appropriate industrial work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for painting, fabrication, and safety compliance in a busy shop setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.78 - $18.03/hr.
