AV Engineer​/Q-SYS Programmer

Our install team builds the system. You bring it to life — program it, commission it, train the people who will run it, and support it afterward. Four parts, and all four are the job:

Program. Write and configure the Q-SYS design file — DSP, video routing, the UCI and its control logic, and whatever automation the system needs. You also configure the network the system runs on: managed switches, VLANs, and QoS for audio and video transport. When a system calls for a control behavior the stock components don't cover, you write it. This is the specialized piece and the reason the role exists.

Commission. On site, verifying every function works the way it's supposed to. Something always behaves differently in the room than it did on the bench, and you solve it there.

Hand off. Train the client to operate what you built. Often non-technical people, often nervous about it, usually right after a long commissioning day.

Support. Set up remote access, and troubleshoot the system when something breaks later.

We don't care whether you program with logic controls, Block Controller, or hand-written Lua. We care that the system works, does everything it's supposed to, and doesn't break when a device drops off the network.

Vox Audio Visual designs, builds, and commissions AV systems across Oklahoma and the surrounding region — corporate and conferencing, worship, education, hospitality, and civic. We're a Q‑SIS shop with real drawing standards and real commissioning discipline.

We have a strong install team handling racks, cable, and physical installation. What we're short on is programming and engineering capacity. This is an engineering role, not a labor role — though we're a small enough shop that you'll get your hands on a rack now and then, and we'd expect you to be fine with that.

• Program and configure Q-SYS design files from scratch or from template — DSP, video routing, system configuration
• Create UCIs: components, layers, control linking, interfaces clients can actually operate
• Write automation and control logic — auto-switching, macros, conditional behavior, third-party device control
• Configure the AV network — managed switches, VLANs, QoS, and addressing for Dante and AV-over-IP transport
• Commission systems on site and verify every function works
• Train end users at turnover
• Set up and manage remote access
• Handle escalated service, including remote troubleshooting on systems you've built

• Hands‑on Q‑SIS experience taking systems from design through turnover
• Ability to solve control problems the stock components don't cover — you'll be given a small practical problem during the interview, and how you solve it is your call
• Commissioning experience — you've been the person in the room when it had to work
• DSP configuration and tuning
• Third‑party device integration
• Solid AV networking — configuring managed switches, VLANs, and QoS, and troubleshooting connectivity on your own
• Ability to read a drawing packet and understand system intent
• Comfortable teaching non‑technical people how to use what you built
• Valid driver's license

• Q‑SIS Level 1 or Level 2 certification
• Q‑SIS Control & UCI training at any level
• Crestron or other control platform experience
• Dante or AES

Have the core skills but none of the certifications? Apply anyway — we'll fund the training.

This is an Oklahoma City role, not a remote one — commissioning and client turnover happen on site, and there's regional travel for it. That said, design and programming work doesn't require sitting at a desk here, and we're flexible about where and when that part gets done. We care that the work is finished and the client is taken care of, not about hours logged in a chair.

• $75k–$85k depending on experience, with a defined path to a higher band as you take on independent commissioning and service
