Our client is an established automotive manufacturing and remanufacturing organization producing components for OEM and aftermarket customers. The company offers a hands‑on production environment focused on quality, continuous improvement, employee development, and workplace safety.
We are seeking a hands‑on Floor Supervisor to oversee daily manufacturing activities and lead a production team of approximately 5–12 employees. This individual will be responsible for keeping production on schedule, monitoring quality and productivity, coaching employees, and helping resolve equipment and process issues.
This is a manufacturing leadership role rather than a warehouse supervisory position. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, process‑minded, and comfortable spending the majority of the day on the production floor. Supervisors will rotate through different areas of the facility over time to develop a strong understanding of the entire manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and train production employees while maintaining a positive and accountable work environment.
- Assign daily work and ensure production activities remain on schedule.
- Monitor productivity, material usage, scrap, downtime, and other production metrics.
- Assist with equipment setup and help troubleshoot mechanical or process‑related issues.
- Coordinate with Maintenance when equipment repairs or additional support are required.
- Partner with Quality to address production concerns and ensure products meet established standards.
- Identify workflow or process issues and help implement practical improvements.
- Manage routine employee matters such as timekeeping, scheduling, overtime, and performance feedback.
- Ensure team members understand and consistently follow production procedures.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve operational issues.
- Maintain accurate production information using company computer systems.
- Reinforce safety requirements and ensure employees follow established procedures and PPE guidelines.
- 2–4 years of relevant manufacturing or production experience.
- Previous supervisory, team‑lead, or similar leadership experience required.
- Direct experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to understand equipment and production processes.
- Strong process‑oriented mindset and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, train, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
- Comfortable being hands‑on and highly visible on the production floor.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn internal production systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good judgment and ability to make timely decisions when production issues arise.
- Flexible and adaptable within a changing manufacturing environment.
- Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
