NDT Technician Role Purpose / Mission

The NDT Specialist ensures the reliability and accuracy of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations within the facility. This role maintains NDT equipment, conducts inspections and studies, supports new product development, and ensures testing complies with internal and regulatory quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain NDT equipment to ensure testing continuity during production.
  • Rebuild broken testers and equipment offline.
  • Maintain parts inventory and manage vendor relations for magnetic analysis equipment.
  • Order lease parts and equipment as needed.
  • Calibrate and maintain Olympus parts, probes, and equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain GE portable UT equipment.
  • Conduct testing studies, end suppression studies, and capability studies.
Required Education and Skills

High School Diploma required; coursework in Quality Assurance or related field desired. Prior experience or internship in metals manufacturing; familiarity with ISO and QS 9000 standards a plus. Prior experience with NDT, specifically Eddy Current and Ultrasonic testing, preferred. Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with strong technical and mechanical aptitude. Proficient in MS Office, including strong Access skills. Excellent organization and planning skills;

ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to enhance knowledge and skills through ongoing education. Creative, inquisitive, analytical, and detail-oriented. Excellent technical writing skills for reports and procedures.

  • Efficient parts inventory management with minimal delays in testing.
Typical Physical Demands

Work a minimum of 8 hours per day; additional hours as needed.

Full range of body motion including lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, and squatting.

Frequent walking and/or standing on concrete floors; may walk up to 2 miles per shift wearing steel-toed shoes.

Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.

May require unassisted lifting of objects 5-50 lbs.

Frequent hand manipulation for equipment, testing, and computer tasks.

Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced production environment.

Typical Working Conditions

Split time between office and manufacturing areas.

Office environment is climate-controlled and clean.

Manufacturing areas expose employees to loud and prolonged noise, moving machinery, and temperature extremes (hot and cold).
