Fabrication Technician

Pay: $16.78 - $18.03

2nd Shift

Monday through Friday

4:30 PM to 4:00 AM

Overtime available based on production needs

Job Description

This role involves assisting with the fabrication, fitting, and welding of steel components used in commercial and industrial construction projects. You will work with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment while learning welding and production processes in a fast-paced shop environment. The position is well-suited for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who want to build their skills in fabrication and welding, including those who are entry-level or recently out of trade school.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the fabrication, fitting, and welding of steel components used in commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to cut, grind, fit, and assemble steel parts according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints or shop drawings to understand measurements, layouts, and fabrication requirements.
  • Measure and mark materials accurately using basic math and measurement tools to ensure precise cuts and fits.
  • Support general production activities, including material handling, assembly, and preparation of components for welding or installation.
  • Use grinders, torches, saws, and other fabrication equipment to prepare and finish steel components as directed.
  • Perform heavy lifting and safe handling of steel materials and fabricated parts throughout the production process.
  • Assist with basic MIG welding tasks under supervision, as skills and training allow.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in a loud, high-activity manufacturing environment.
  • Participate in quality inspections by using measuring tools such as calipers and squares to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operate or assist with the operation of forklifts or overhead cranes for moving materials, if trained and authorized.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and support continuous improvement in fabrication processes.
Essential Skills
  • Basic math and measurement skills for accurately marking, cutting, and fitting materials.
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in working with tools, machinery, and steel components.
  • Experience or comfort using hand tools and power tools in a shop or construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or shop drawings.
  • Willingness to perform general labor and general production tasks in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and safely handle steel materials.
  • Openness to entry-level opportunities, including candidates fresh out of trade school or with limited industry experience.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures in a loud, industrial manufacturing environment.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.78 - $18.03/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
