As a Nursing Assistant, you will perform a range of clerical duties and direct patient care activities that support the unit’s care team. Your tasks must be completed efficiently and in a timely manner, enhancing the quality of patient care. The role involves caring for patients across a specific age range in the assigned clinical area.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care as directed within the nursing assistant scope of practice, supporting the multidisciplinary care plan for each patient.
- Identify, observe, and document patients’ physical needs, reporting changes to licensed personnel promptly.
- Maintain specimen integrity according to policy, procedure, and physician orders.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and fulfill delegated responsibilities for ongoing care, including hygiene and linen changes.
- Perform one‑to‑one patient safety watch as assigned following established policies.
- Accurately process specimens and transport to the laboratory in a timely manner.
- Execute point‑of‑care patient testing, instrument maintenance, and quality control.
- Help troubleshoot equipment and supplies issues, implementing corrective measures.
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
- Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths, transcribing and processing orders according to unit standards.
- Release and confirm ordered tests to appropriate departments.
- Coordinate patient transportation to multiple tests.
- Obtain and communicate electronic information relevant to the unit; schedule tests, fax consults, etc.
- Assist in ordering supplies, including stationery, floor stock, and nursing supplies.
- Communicate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
- Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment, arranging maintenance for computers, fax machines, phones, etc.
- Access non‑controlled medication storage areas and transport non‑controlled medications as needed.
- Assist with transporting non‑controlled medications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit.
- Assist with transporting blood products to and from the Blood Bank as needed.
HFAM7 Cardiac ICU
Schedule: Day and Night Rotating Shifts, 24 hours a week, including every other weekend and holiday.
No experience required. Comprehensive on‑the‑job training provided.
