American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medicine Step Down position requiring a minimum of one year of nursing experience and an active OK or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Hospital-based Medicine Step Down unit
- Day shift schedule
- 36 hours per week, 3x12-hour shifts
- Provides nursing care to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
- Responsibilities include monitoring physiological data, administering medications, managing IV infusions and blood products, and assisting physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
- Engages patients and families in care planning throughout the hospital stay and at discharge
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may only extend once for a maximum total of 26 weeks; a 6-month separation period is required before returning after reaching the 26-week limit
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification should be included in your profile for consideration
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills required
