Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Medical unit position requiring trach/home ventilator experience and broad pediatric nursing skills in a Level 1 trauma facility.
Responsibilities- Pediatric Medical unit in a hospital setting at a Level 1 trauma facility
- Patient population ranges from newborns to 18 years of age across a variety of diagnoses and conditions
- Broad case mix including respiratory and GI cases; no single specialty focus
- Experience with trach patients and those on home ventilators is required due to the patient population served
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Responsibilities include managing an assigned patient group, documenting nursing interventions, administering medications, monitoring IV infusions and blood products, and coordinating care with physicians and support staff
- Communicates care plans and discharge instructions to patients and families, and delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
- Workers who have previously completed a contract at this facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible to apply again; extensions are limited to one time for a total of 26 weeks
- Compliance with onboarding requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) must begin immediately upon acceptance of offer and is strictly enforced
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Experience with trach care and home ventilator management required
- Broad pediatric nursing experience including respiratory and GI strongly preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma facility preferred
- Full date of birth and full Social Security Number required for consideration
