Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced travel RN for a Surgical/Transplant unit position requiring prior stepdown and Level 1 acute care surgical floor experience.

Responsibilities

• Mixed stepdown and acute care surgical floor unit in a hospital setting

• Cares for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients, as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing inpatient evaluation

• Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication delivery

• ENT and/or transplant experience is preferred

• Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)

• 13-week contract

• Responsibilities include managing an assigned patient group, monitoring physiological data, administering medications, regulating IV infusions and blood products, documenting patient responses, and coordinating with physicians and support staff

• Interacts with patients and families regarding care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning

• Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff and makes referrals to appropriate personnel as needed

• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may return after a 6-month separation period; extensions are limited to one time for a maximum of 26 weeks total

• Compliance with onboarding requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) is strictly enforced and must be initiated promptly upon booking

Requirements

• Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact/eNLC)

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued

• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience

• Prior travel nursing experience required

• Stepdown/PCU experience required

• Level 1 facility experience required

• Acute care surgical floor experience required

• OR candidates will not be considered

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
