What You’ll DoAs a PACU Registered Nurse, you will provide high‑quality post‑anesthesia care from admission through discharge. You will use your clinical expertise to support safe recoveries, anticipate complications, and ensure an excellent patient experience.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care to post‑surgical patients in accordance with policies and standards of care
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status, interventions, and outcomes
- Recognize and respond efficiently to emergencies using ACLS/PALS and hospital protocols
- Demonstrate knowledge of PACU equipment, including proper use, removal, and troubleshooting
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of medications and expected anesthesia outcomes
- Provide clear and compassionate discharge instructions to patients and families
- Complete and document postoperative follow‑up calls
- Restock and maintain supplies and equipment for efficient workflow
- Support pain management procedures according to facility standards
- Collaborate professionally with patients, families, physicians, and team members
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure continuity of care
Licensure & Certification
- Active Oklahoma RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required prior to clinical start
- Minimum one year of PACU, ICU, or Emergency experience (preferred)
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Strong clinical judgment in post‑anesthesia care
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
- Knowledge of age‑specific nursing care requirements
- Ability to prioritize effectively and remain calm under pressure
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases
- Requires the ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, and fine motor movements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English clearly
