American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring acute care surgical floor experience and a valid Oklahoma or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Post Surgical Unit (4E) in an acute care hospital setting,

• Cares for pre- and post-operative patients across a range of surgical specialties, including ENT and transplant cases,

• Patients may present with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, nasogastric tubes (NGT), or dobhoff tubes (DHT),

• Unit includes both standard surgical and step-down/PCU-level patients,

• Patient ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down patients,

• Night shift, 12-hour days, 3 days per week (36 hours/week),

• OR (operating room) candidates will not be accepted for this position,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC) required,

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required - AHA-issued certifications only,

• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required,

• Acute care surgical floor experience required,

• Step-down or PCU experience required,

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred,

• ENT and/or transplant experience preferred,

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible - local candidates are not accepted,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing assigned patient groups, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, and documenting patient responses to nursing interventions,

• Collaborates with physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures, and coordinates patient and family education on care plans and hospital procedures,

• Delegates tasks to support staff and makes referrals to appropriate personnel as needed,

• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may only extend once, for a total of 26 weeks; after 26 weeks, a 6-month separation period is required before reapplying,

• This facility enforces strict compliance deadlines - onboarding requirements including drug screens, background checks, and medical requirements must be initiated immediately upon booking,
