About the roleYou will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment, and following guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs, is required.
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and facilitating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance for incidents.
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Hourly wage range: $23.04 – $31.68. Salary may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, volunteer time off, holidays, well‑being benefits, up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year, and up to 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
