Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues.
Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment is required. You will also provide center‑level support of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) and follow guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs.
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance concerning medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or ER.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

- Hourly wage range: $23.04 - $31.68.
- Eligibility for short‑term incentives for U.S. based employees.
- Up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year and up to 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
