Position Details:
Nights, Full Time, 36 hours per week – Mercy Hospital, W Memorial Rd, Labor & Birth

Overview

We are a high‑paced, high‑energy unit specializing in Obstetrics and Mother Baby, Well Newborn Care along with the Post Women’s Surgical unit.

Within our unit we have:

  • 40 MB rooms
  • 15 LDR rooms
  • 14 High Risk Antepartum rooms
  • 8‑bed OBED unit
  • 4 LIBC Birthing Suites
  • 4 Pre‑Post Rooms
  • 3 OR suites where we circulate all of our own cases

Full‑time lactation consultants serve both inpatient and outpatient patients. Mercy OKC is the leading delivering hospital in Oklahoma City and the second leading in ministry. Our teams offer a comprehensive suite of services at the Love Family Women’s Center.

Nurses are expected to maintain competencies in Labor & Birth, Antepartum, and OB Emergency Department, and may be assigned to float between these departments based on patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality patient care across labor and birth, antepartum, and obstetric emergency settings.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including lactation consultants, surgeons, and support staff.

• Monitor and manage patient conditions during ALL shift hours, ensuring timely interventions and documentation.

• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
Licensure:
Obtain and maintain a current RN license in the hiring state or the applicable compact.
Registered nurse must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

• Prolonged standing and walking each shift.

• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Certifications

Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, completed within 30 days of hire.
Additional certifications may be required based on the unit or acquisition of certification within the department‑required timeframe.
