Registered Nurse (RN), Behavioral Health

Job Type: PRN varied shifts

As an RN in the Behavioral Health Department, you will provide patient-centered care, coordinate interventions, and support the department’s clinical, operational, and administrative excellence.

• Assess patients and plan care within set time frames, documenting findings per policies.
• Oversee and supervise the shift.
• Demonstrate leadership through tasks such as delegating to groups, close observation, meal supervision, etc.
• Ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed, delivering exemplary patient care.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately, including notifying the physician.
• Administer medications in accordance with hospital policy.
• Interact with patients using empathy, dignity, and respect.
• Deliver quality nursing care aligning with treatment plan goals and hospital procedures.
• Assist or perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.

• Reports to:
  
  Nurse Manager or Chief Nursing Officer. FLSA: none exempt.
• Preferred:
  Prior experience in a psychiatric or chemical dependency setting, dual diagnosis, geriatric patients, family involvement, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.

• Associate’s degree in nursing.
• Current RN license as required by state regulations.
• 1‑year experience in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of employment.
• De‑escalation certification required within 30 days of employment.
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and calmness under stress.
