Job DescriptionThis position may be filled as a Clinical Support Assistant Level I, II, or III depending on individual qualifications, experience, and business need.
Essential Responsibilities- Under general supervision of a registered nurse, performs routine tasks in patient care.
- Systematically and continually monitors the patient’s health status and implements the plan of care.
- Carries out physician and nursing orders within scope.
- Records vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight) and performs blood glucose monitoring.
- Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitor.
- Collects specimens as directed.
- Applies sterile dressings, removes sutures, staples and/or drains; performs all sterile procedures as assigned.
- Performs stomal irrigation and applies colostomy pouches; performs oral suctioning.
- Takes emergency action as needed within scope.
- Performs all treatments and procedures as defined on initial skills checklist.
- Reports symptoms and significant changes to RN.
- Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer process, including patient transportation and assisting transporters.
- Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms, makes beds, replaces soiled linen, and restocks supplies.
- When assigned as a safety attendant, provides care, observes the patient, and does not leave the patient alone.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements- HS Diploma or GED
- No experience required
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to maintain effective working relations with others.
