American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neurosciences (Stroke & Neuro) unit position working night shifts in a comprehensive stroke center.
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or eNLC Compact)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA only)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Responsibilities
- Hospital-based Neurosciences unit specializing in stroke and neurology, with additional ortho and spine patients
- Comprehensive stroke center designation
- Patient ratios are 3:1 for stroke/step-down patients and 5:1 for all other patients
- Night shift, 12-hour days, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
- May be required to work in a virtual monitoring room
- Stroke experience and NIHSS certification are preferred
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned patient group, including medication administration, IV infusion management, and monitoring physiological data
- Collaborates with physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
- Educates patients and families on care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning
- Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff and makes referrals to other personnel as needed
- Precept responsibilities may be required
- Travelers with prior assignments at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after 26 cumulative weeks before being eligible for a new contract
- Compliance with onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, medical requirements) must be completed promptly — the facility does not negotiate start dates and will not allow delays
