Travel RN - PACU

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Ambulatory Surgery Center PACU position requiring ACLS, PALS, and experience recovering phase 1 patients across pediatric to geriatric age groups.

• Active RN license (Oklahoma State or Compact/eNLC)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required (2 years preferred)
• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Excellent IV skills and experience instilling prescribed pupil-dilating drops
• Ability to manage airways and control pain or nausea in recovering patients
• Strong patient interview and assessment skills

• Work in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting
• Provide phase 1 PACU recovery care for surgical eye patients (cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, plastics)
• Care for patients ranging in age from 6 months to 95 years
• Day shift schedule with 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week, 40 hours weekly
• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of surgical patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and note changes in physician orders
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Administer medications and monitor IV infusions and blood products
  
  Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout treatment and at discharge
• Delegate tasks to support staff as needed
• Must maintain a fast pace while working collaboratively as part of a team
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Returning travelers may extend once for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
