RN - PCU

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in IMC/MS stepdown cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery.

License: Current and valid state issued

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, EKG Course/Telemetry test, NIHSS

Must-Have:

  • Driver's license must be included with submission
  • Utility bill in the traveler's name with matching address within the last three months

Description:

This position involves working in an IMC/MS stepdown cardiology setting.

Patients will include those undergoing cardiovascular surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.

The nurse to patient ratio is 4:1.Common patient diagnoses include:

  • Cardiothoracic surgery (pre-op or post-op day 1 CABG, Femoral bypass, Thoracotomy, VATS, CEA)
  • Patients requiring Cath Lab procedures (STEMI/NSTEMI, Coronary arterial disease)
  • CHF exacerbation
  • Symptomatic/nonsymptomatic bradycardia
  • Pacemaker management (temporary or external until permanent placement)
  • Dysrhythmias (Atrial fibrillation/flutter with or without RVR, SVT, Vtach with pulse, etc.)
  • Hemothorax/pneumothorax patients

The unit specializes in cardiology patients.

Nurses are expected to float within the scope of their practice based on facility needs.

Candidates must be willing to accommodate floating to other areas or facilities if necessary.

No more than 5 days of requested time off will be accepted every 13 weeks.

The unit operates with a comprehensive team including support from Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services.

Candidates must have the ability to manage various critical care tasks including:

  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Central line care and management
  • Administration of blood products
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Post-cardiac procedure care and more

This role necessitates proficiency in utilizing equipment and performing nursing procedures relevant to cardiology and IMC settings.
