The Quality Control Technician I (QC
1) is an entry-level quality specialist responsible for performing high-volume, routine inspections, tests, and checks on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods. This role ensures early defect detection, accurate data capture, and strict adherence to established quality standards and safety procedures. Working under direct supervision, the QC 1 provides the foundational inspection and data integrity essential for effective quality decision-making and overall production accuracy.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of metal and vinyl components using basic precision tools, including calipers.
- Operate basic production line test equipment (e.g., Mill Tester, Webster) as trained.
- Understand and complete all MP Husky process checks and demonstrate foundational knowledge of key product specifications, including identifying the Top 10 die prints.
- Accurately record, log, and input inspection results into required systems.
- Perform QA log entry, Hold Tag entry, and COA documentation entry.
- Generate, apply, and track Hold Tags to properly identify and segregate nonconforming products.
- Assist with assembling and organizing compliance documentation, including Shurtape and Grainger audit materials.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment following 5S principles and established safety procedures.
- Provide timely feedback on inspection findings, data inconsistencies, or SOP deviations, and escalate proactively.
- Contribute accurate data for trend analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform basic data lookups and transactions in Oracle, the Intranet, and Excel.
- Participate in required training programs, including 5S training, Lean Training 101, Oracle training, and additional development courses designated by Department Leadership.
- Follow the growth and development path established by Department Leadership or Training and Development, demonstrating consistent progress toward required competencies and future role advancement.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward continuous learning, skill expansion, and team participation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment preferred.
- Basic math skills and the ability to read production drawings/prints.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to follow standard work instructions with accuracy and consistency.
- Proactive mindset and willingness to escalte issues immediately.
- Positive attitude toward teamwork, learning, and long-term growth.
