Job Description (All Levels)

The Mobile Inspector is a key member of the Manheim Mobile Inspections team, conducting on‑site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients. The role documents vehicle condition accurately and timely, supporting client trust, marketplace transparency, and inventory flow. Inspectors build strong relationships with dealer clients, act as brand ambassadors, and engage dealers to grow participation in mobile inspection services.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Vehicle Inspection & Documentation
    • Conduct thorough inspections per Manheim standards.
    • Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles safely on dealer client lots.
    • Verify VIN, mileage, sub‑series, and options; enter data accurately.
    • Document exterior condition (tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components).
    • Document interior condition (seating, dashboard, installed options).
    • Perform basic mechanical checks (powertrain, drivetrain, electrical).
    • Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features.
  • Client Engagement & Territory Management
    • Build trust with dealer clients through consistent quality and professionalism.
    • Educate clients on the value of Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services.
    • Proactively engage dealers to increase inspection volume.
    • Leverage data, insights, and partner input to maximize inspection efficiency.
    • Adapt to schedule changes to ensure effective dealer coverage.
  • Reporting, Tools & Collaboration
    • Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.
    • Use  for reporting, lead management, and performance tracking.
    • Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
  • Safety, Compliance & Standards
    • Maintain production expectations set by leadership.
    • Show visible commitment to safety by following procedures.
    • Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives.
    • Comply with Manheim inspection standards and NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Role-Specific Requirements Mobile Inspector – Level1

Summary
:
Entry‑level role focused on learning Manheim inspection standards and client engagement practices.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Minimal automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) preferred.
    • 0–1 year of automotive‑related experience preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
    • Ability to meet physical and mental demands within required time frames.
  • Key Responsibilities
    • Conduct basic vehicle inspections with accuracy.
    • Move and handle vehicles safely on dealer lots.
    • Accurately document vehicle condition and data.
    • Develop knowledge of inspection standards and client expectations.
Mobile Inspector – Level2

Summary
:
Intermediate role managing inspection activity independently and supporting territory growth.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of related experience.
    • Alternative: any higher degree or certification + 5 years of experience.
    • 1–2 years of automotive‑related experience preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
    • Ability to meet physical and mental demands within required time frames.
