Core Responsibilities
  • Lead and managing Field Safety Coordinators across assigned operational areas.
  • Ensure consistent execution of company safety programs, procedures, and expectations.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to Field Safety Coordinators in daily field activities.
  • Conduct regular field visits, safety observations, and engagement activities with crews and field leadership.
  • Partner with operations leadership to identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA , OSHA construction standards, DOT requirements, and customer safety expectations.
  • Monitor effectiveness and quality of field observations and safety interactions.
  • Assist with development and implementation of company safety initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and accountability.
  • Support storm response and emergency restoration operations as required.
Incident Management & Compliance
  • Oversee incident investigations conducted by Field Safety Coordinators.
  • Ensure incidents, near misses, and safety observations are reported accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Proof and finalize all incident reports.
  • Review root cause analyses and corrective action plans for quality and effectiveness.
  • Track corrective actions to ensure timely completion and accountability.
  • Analyze incident trends and identify opportunities for proactive risk reduction.
  • Support customer audits and regulatory inquiries.
  • Ensure safety documentation, reporting, and compliance requirements are maintained consistently across all assigned areas.
  • Monitor field compliance with PPE requirements, safe work practices, and company procedures.
Training & Development
  • Lead development and mentorship of Field Safety Coordinators.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards for safety personnel.
  • Assist with onboarding and development of new safety team members.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety meetings.
  • Promote consistency in field engagement, coaching techniques, and safety expectations.
  • Support leadership development for frontline operations personnel and field safety staff.
  • Identify training gaps and operational improvement opportunities.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for Field Safety Coordinators.
  • Establish clear expectations for professionalism, field presence, communication, and performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with operations leadership and field personnel.
  • Promote teamwork, operational discipline, and consistent execution of company standards.
  • Serve as a visible leader within the safety organization and field operations.
  • Support company initiatives focused on continuous improvement and safety excellence.
  • Foster trust, engagement, and open communication throughout the organization.
Performance Expectations
  • Maintain strong field engagement and visibility across operations.
  • Reduce incident frequency and operational risk exposure.
  • Improve quality and consistency of JSA’s, field audits, observations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely completion of investigations, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Strengthen accountability and development of Field Safety Coordinators.
  • Support continuous improvement in safety culture and operational performance.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with operations leadership, customers, and field personnel.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience — common substitution: high school diploma + 8-10 years relevant safety experience)
  • Associate's degree acceptable for some mid-level postings if paired with strong certifications
Certifications (core)
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP)
  • CPR/First Aid/AED instructor certification
  • OSHA 500/501 (Authorized Trainer)
Experience
  • 5-7+ years in safety management, with at least 2-3 years specific to electrical utility, construction, or line work environments
  • Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and OSHA recordkeeping (300/300A logs)
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training programs for field crews (electricians, linemen, apprentices)
  • Track record managing safety audits, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and site inspections
Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication for toolbox talks, incident reports, and leadership presentations
  • Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office/Paycom-adjacent systems
  • Ability to work across office and field environments, including site visits to active job sites
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
