- Operates and maintains highly technical research equipment and facilities
- Plans, designs and conducts scientific experiments.
- Assists others in proper use of equipment
- Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and training personnel on specialized vision research equipment used in the Ophthalmology animal facility, comparative medicine, and vision core labs
- Analyzes and interprets data.
- Presents research results and prepares research for publication.
- Operates and maintains highly technical research equipment and facilities and assists others in the proper use of equipment.
- Procures supplies and equipment needed for laboratory and field operations.
- Assists in preparing funding proposals.
- Procures supplies, reagents, surgical, consumables
- Communicates with vendors on procurement and equipment repair when needed
- Logs usage data on equipment and assists with writing annual progress reports and grant submissions using this data
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of this position.
Required
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field,
AND:
- 24 months of related research experience
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
Skills- Proficient in Microsoft office
- Highly organize and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to communicate well
- Technical writing skills
- Knowledge of research methodologies and techniques (especially animal handling and physiological analysis of vision using specialized instruments)
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of specialized terminology
