Research Technician III/IV - Zhao Lab (Full or Part-Time)

The laboratory of Dr. Meng Zhao in the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology Research Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician at the III or IV level to support projects investigating how immune cell metabolic stress drives tissue inflammation and cancer development. The primary focus of this position is tissue pathology and histology using mouse models of inflammation and tumorigenesis.
We are looking for an individual with strong hands‑on experience in tissue processing and microscopy who enjoys working in a collaborative and scientifically rigorous research environment.
- Mouse tissue collection and necropsy
- Tissue embedding, sectioning, and histologic staining
- Immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry workflows
- Microscopy imaging and image organization
- Assistance with experimental planning and laboratory organization
- Coordination of tissue processing and sample tracking across projects
Bachelor's degree in one of the biological sciences or a relevant field and five (5) years of relevant laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, research staff, and collaborators. Professionalism while interacting with a diverse group of people, personalities, and cultures.
Preferred Qualifications- Extensive experience with histology and mouse tissue processing
- Experience with paraffin and/or cryosectioning
- Familiarity with microscopy and fluorescence imaging
- Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Typically Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM, but the schedule may vary depending on experiments and projects. This position can be structured as either full-time or part-time depending on experience and availability.
