Statistical Research Specialist – Employment Security Commission

Salary: Up to $50,000 annually (based on education and experience)

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.

FLSA Status: LevelI – Non‑Exempt;
LevelII &III – Exempt

Job Summary: Receives, reviews, and compiles complex statistical data to produce estimates of labor market information following guidelines from the U.S. Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Produces industry and occupation projections, applies statistical procedures and tabulations in analyzing collected economic data, and prepares, arranges statistical tables and charts for manuals, handbooks, and reports. Participates in required security protocols.

Essential Functions: Ensures that federal and state mandates related to U.S. DOL WI grant requirements are met by populating federal and state databases; adheres to QCEW, OEWS, LAUS, CES, and LMI program procedures; identifies, analyzes, and corrects questionable data; consults with stakeholders across the state to obtain economic data; proactively ensures quality data collection through timely follow‑up and resolution of survey data problems;

ensures program deliverables are completed within BLS and DOL grant guidelines; utilizes excellent customer‑service skills; utilizes outreach methods to obtain employer/business/industry/economic information; performs special assignments as directed; attends required training and security protocols; performs on‑site attendance as essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • LevelIII: Bachelor’s degree with nine semester hours in statistics, statistical research methods, economics, demographic or social research statistics, plus three years of experience in technical statistical and research work; or master’s degree in a social science, business administration, mathematics, statistics, or public administration with nine semester hours of advanced statistical methods plus one year of experience.
  • LevelII: Bachelor’s degree with nine semester hours in statistics, statistical research methods, economics, demographic or social research statistics, plus two years of experience in technical statistical and research work; or a master’s degree with nine semester hours of advanced statistical methods.
  • LevelI: Bachelor’s degree with nine semester hours in statistics, statistical research methods, economics, demographic or social research statistics.

Special Skills/Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Teams). Ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds.
