Position: Part Time Junior Environmental Field Technician (Oklahoma only)

Short Description

Bowman has an opportunity for a Junior Environmental Field Technician (PT) to join our team remotely in Oklahoma.

Purpose

This position involves the collection and compilation of environmental data from sites including bat and avian monitoring, under different stages or phases of environmental work processes.

Responsibilities Leadership and Direction
  • Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes. Receive direction on all aspects of assignments, specific tasks and how to execute. Work is thoroughly reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles.
At the Operational and Company Level
  • Work effectively with other departments and with employees at all levels.
Do the Work
  • Carefully operate field equipment and instruments.
  • Perform biological monitoring.
  • Identify bat and avian species.
  • Generate and log detailed field notes and data collection sheets.
  • Perform basic calculations related to sampling data.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
  • Associate's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field a plus.
  • Entry level position, no prior experience required. Any relevant industry‑related experience a plus.
  • Knowledge in the operation and use of field equipment, which includes, but is not limited to, 4x4 trucks, compass, tablet, range finder, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must hold a valid state driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out‑of‑the‑area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 51‑100 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 51‑100 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
